Reconciliation and Responsible Investment Initiative

a partnership between SHARE and NATOA

Aligning capital with indigenous values

We are working with Canadian institutional investors to promote responsible investment policies and practices that include reconciliation goals. We believe that, together, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous investors can build capital markets that integrate and better align with Indigenous values and ways of knowing.

We envision a financial system that empowers Indigenous perspectives, recognizes the role of community values in investment decision making and contributes to protecting Indigenous rights and title.

Grounded in collective action, research and knowledge exchange, RRII is supporting Indigenous trustees and decision-makers to further align the governance of their collective financial assets with their community values. We are working with Indigenous decision-makers to ensure their rights, values and aspirations are reflected and upheld in their investment policies and practices including in their relationships with advisors and asset managers.

Our approach is grounded in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Principles of Reconciliation and Call to Action 92 directed at business.
